Christmas Concert: Toward World Harmony

On December 15, 2022, Schiller Institute NYC Chorus presented our "Christmas Concert: Toward World Harmony," at Leonia United Methodist Church in downtown Leonia NJ.

Opening with chorus founder, Diane Sare, leading the chorus in the canon, Dona Nobis Pacem, the concert included a selection of Spirituals, excerpts from Handel's Messiah, Handel's D major Violin Sonata presented by concertmistress Jungwon Yoon and our intrepid chorus pianist Dura Jun, and the full Kyrie and Gloria from JS Bach's Mass in B minor. The guest conductor was Alfonso Piacentini of the Boston Philharmonic orchestra. Soloists included alto Linda Childs, chorus chair and soprano Jennifer Pearl, soprano Michelle Erin, and tenor Everett Suttle. The bass soloist having fallen ill, cellist Sam Chung boldly stepped in with an impromptu rendition of the solo part for the Quoniam.
