Friends of the Schiller Institute NYC Chorus bring Italian Opera Arias back home to Little Italy in the Bronx.

Ann & Tony’s Restaurant on Arthur Avenue was the place to be Saturday evening not only for an Italian culinary delight, but for a taste of real Italian Opera.  Soprano Michelle Erin of the Schiller Institute NYC Chorus was joined by visiting Swedish soprano Leena Malkki to present an hour of Italian Opera Arias and other works.

Some came for their evening repast and were happy to walk into this unique musical event, others came to hear the music and were delighted to discover genuine Italian cuisine presented by the fifth successive generation of the Napolitano family in the very center of Arthur Avenue. The combination worked!

Ralph was there to make everyone feel at home and enjoy the experience. His brother, Anthony Napolitano, listening from the kitchen, came out to greet diners at the end and compliment the singers for  the wonderful music, praising particularly the rendition of Santa Lucia delivered by Michelle.

Margaret Greenspan, also a soprano in the Schiller chorus, provided the piano accompaniment to make the evening complete.
