America's 250th year also marks 25 years since the yet unresolved 9/11 attacks. To properly remember and pay tribute to the victims of those attacks and the ongoing continuous wars engendered by them, we will reach out to our namesake Fredrich Schiller, the Poet of Freedom.
On Friday, September 11, 2026 the Schiller Institute NYC Chorus will perform musical settings of two of Schiller's poems, set by Ludwig van Beethoven and Johannes Brahms, with full orchestra.
The first is Beethoven's Choral Symphony No. 9, setting portions of An die Freude (To Joy), and the second is Nänie, a song of lament.
Weekly Thursday rehearsals start May 28th. If you'd like to sing with the chorus or learn more about the program, please sign up HERE or call John Scialdone at 201-233-8615.

But two virtues exist -- O were they always united:
ever the good also great, ever the great also good.
-- Friedrich Schiller.
