Beethoven Violin Sonata in A minor

🎼🎶 Saturday, August 28, 2021
Beethoven intended that his fourth and fifth violin sonatas be published as a set, with the dark and dramatic A minor contrasting with the sunny lyricism of the F major.
They were first published in 1801 as Opus 23, but in a new edition the following year the violin parts of the two sonatas were mistakenly printed in different formats. The two have been separated ever since, with the A minor remaining Opus 23 and  the F major, the “Spring Sonata”, assigned Opus 24.
Here is a riveting performance of the violin sonata in A minor, Opus 23.
