The simple poem "Gottes Macht und Vorsehung" (God’s Power and Providence) is the penultimate song from Beethoven's Gellert cycle and is the prelude to tomorrow's "Bußlied" (Song of Atonement).
Gott ist mein Lied!
Er ist der Gott der Stärke;
Hehr ist sein Nam',
Und groß sind seine Werke
Und alle Himmel sein Gebiet.
God is my song!
He is the God of Power;
Exalted is his name,
And great are his works;
And all of heaven his domain.
