Reginald Bouknight, a long-time friend and collaborator of the Schiller Institute, passed away on July 26, 2021. Wherever he sang with us, in Virginia, in Boston, in NYC, and other places, he brought a happy and moving spirit to the room.
Jennifer Ann Pearl, Chair of the Schiller Institute Chorus:
"What a loss. What a gem of a singer and person. . . I'll never forget your beautiful voice ringing through the church for our concert in Boston in 2018. Heaven's chorus of angels has gained an amazing tenor. Condolences to his family and friends.
"Reggie had a truthful understanding of how to sing the African-American Spiritual and German Art songs. He was a gentle, kind and humble person with a beautiful ringing tenor voice. He was supposed to perform in our Schiller Institute Boston Community Chorus concert in May of 2020 which was cancelled due to covid. I was hoping for many more concerts and with him as a tenor soloist and ringer. Rest In Peace, dear friend.
"Here he is performing “Ombra mai fu” at one of our concerts in the DC area."
