The Wanderer Fantasy was composed in 1822, and is considered to be Schubert’s most technically demanding work for solo piano; in fact Schubert himself lamented that he was unable to perform it.
It’s a work in four movements which are connected without a break, and in the second movement (which begins at about 5:57) one hears the theme from the song “Der Wanderer” which is the unifying theme on which the entire work is based.
