Schiller Institute Chorus Commemorates 75th Anniversary of VJ Day

In a virtual choral performance of Defend the Yellow River, released on August 20th, 2020, the Schiller Institute NYC Chorus pays homage to those who suffered and died and those who fought together to defeat fascism.

The importance of superseding war with the Westphalian principle of "the Benefit of the Other," as the method of settling disputes among especially great nations can not be overstated in today's world of super weapons and cultural pessimism.

Classical art can play a key role in lifting a cynical world to a higher plane of agapic reason, and finding that which is beautiful and universal in the diversity of life.

The Schiller Institute Chorus also commemorated VE Day with the release on April 28, 2020 with a virtual release of Tri Tankista.

Schiller Institute NYC Chorus is continuing a full schedule of rehearsals online for performances at a future time, either on-site or virtually, and encourages newcomers to join the chorus. It is currently working on Beethoven's Missa Solemnis as well as African-American Spirituals, an ambitious project, not diminishing its commitment to properly celebrate Beethoven's 250th year.

Donations are also greatly appreciated.
